Low back pain is another most common problematic condition of today's world .
We are considering lumbosacral pain .
Low back pain may be mechanical or among majority of patients it may be due to (PIVD) prolapsed intervertebral disc and other causes that occur only in 1-2 % .
Lumbar pain is sometimes associated with pain radiating downwards to the leg , which is called as SCIATICA that occurs due to disc prolapse in the L4-L5 , L5-S1 . L5-S1 is the most common for disc prolapse and when it causes pressure on the nerve roots then it causes pain radiating in the leg (sciatica).
SYMPTOMS
pain in the back
pain radiating in the leg
numbness in the leg
pain in forward bending of spine
and patient will get relief in extension of spine .
If there is severe bulging of disc then it can affect the sacral plexus that may result in loss of function of foot or leg.
TREATMENT
heat therapy in back
self traction will be very effective
spinal extension exercises
SLR ( straight leg raising)
self stretching of hamstrings muscles.
self stretching of calf muscles
lumbar belt for prevention
avoid jerky movement
avoid flexion of spine
